GENERAL QUESTIONS

Why National School of Leadership?

National School of Leadership is the first Leadership School in India offering higher education in Leadership Sciences. All Leadership Mentors who design and facilitate your study are real life leaders – including CEOs of large reputed MNCs, Professors from top institutions across the world, Leadership Gurus and other eminent personalities. Supported by an intelligent technological backend, this programme is designed using efficient cognitive neuroscientific techniques that facilitate both unlearning and learning.

Why NSL M.S. in Leadership?
M.S. prepares you for the most challenging careers based on your passion from root level. The National School of Leadership M.S. programme is flexible and can also be easily pursued by Fellows taking up other full time courses or full time employment. This programme emphasizes teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration, leadership and adaptability. We apply the ‘Learn it today, Apply it Tomorrow’ model, which, unlike traditional MBA students, NSLites are an asset to any organization they join. The benefits of this ambitious schedule are clear: NLSites don’t have to wait until graduation to test classroom strategies on the job — they can start on Monday morning.

Is it meant for me?
If you are the one who is looking forward to head an international corporation, launch a new venture or make the career move you wanted this programme is meant for you. This programme is meant for those who want to learn how to think, not what to think both inside and outside-the-box in any situation.

What is the duration of this course?
24 months

What is the mode of learning?
NSL Fellows study through blended learning, a cognitive neuro-scientific technique that include a wide range of modes including virtual classrooms, leadership conferences, seminars, physical interactive sessions, an exhaustive 5 day campus programme at the NSL Campus at Mussourie or at the NSL Centre of Excellence in Pune, apart from learning from each other where lecture is only part of the process of learning. At NSL, you’ll be pushed to watch movies, ask questions – lots of them – by mentors and your classmates. “Why do you think that is so?” “How does that affect a leadership decision?” “What makes a good leader?” “What are your alternatives?” Fearless and freewheeling debate will give you the confidence to excel in any situation, anywhere, with anyone.

Be prepared for all possibilities. Because there are no clear-cut answers, you'll gain a powerful framework for making decisions throughout your career, in any business situation, in any industry.

A curriculum you can use now, NSL mentors bring their real-world experience as consultants, expert witnesses, board members or even CEOs to the classroom. You'll learn how to assess risk, approach clients, think more strategically and make better decisions along a range of outcomes – the tools you need today and in the future.

Is this a distance learning program?
No. The programme is designed such that you work closely with the same study group for most of your two years and grow together as a team. Given NSL's emphasis on teamwork, it follows that study groups are an essential part of the M.S. experience. Many class projects are assigned to these cross-functional teams, rather than to individual Fellows. Because of the structure of classes and the nature of the work you complete, we do not call this programme distance learning.

I travel a lot. I stay busy most of the time. How do I take classes?
Almost all Fellows enrolled for the NSL M.S. are either pursuing other full time courses or busy working professionals. Wherever you are travelling, your NSL classes can be taken from anywhere at any time. So you can keep traveling on work or leisure and not miss classes. The total proceedings of classes, including presentations, interactions, etc. are archived and available. So, if you have missed out a few classes, you can always catch up.

Is the NSL M.S. programme similar to MBA programs offered by other business schools?
No. NSL’s M.S. is focused on Leadership Sciences which is available for students from all streams of study. The curriculum is scientifically designed to achieve academic excellence and practical knowledge to accelerate growth in a Fellow’s career.
